Mount Bethel Poodles: Home raised for health, temperament, and conformation.
My family and I live on 2 acres near the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania and only a one hour drive to New York City. I am a Registered Nurse with a BSN and my passion is raising beautiful, healthy dogs which are to be members of a loving family. I am a home breeder who fell in love with the amazing standard poodle by coincidence. I also value conformation and a commitment toward improving the breed. As a result all dogs are sired by champions in the AKC unless a sire is otherwise determined to improve conformation, health, or temperament. All dogs receive thorough health testing as well. We only keep a few poodles living in our home with us. Some family and friends also have a Mount Bethel Poodle in their homes which are part of the Mount Bethel Poodle breeding clan. This ensures that each poodle in the breeding program lives a life with family, love, and great socialization. This in turn allows puppies to be nurtured within a family setting equipping them to be a great, lovable, well adjusted family member for you.

Poodles and Allergies

I first found this breed when my son developed an allergy to dogs. I have had several poodles in our home at one time and my son has had no reactions to them. From this experience I can, with out a doubt, say that poodles are hypoallergenic in comparison to other breeds. However if you are looking into bringing a poodle into your home for this reason please make sure you are not allergic before you make the commitment.

My experience with the Seeing Eye
How I discovered my passion and talent for working with dogs.
When I was 12-years-old I raised a puppy for Seeing Eye of Morristown, New Jersey. Before being permitted to raise one of these amazing puppies I had to be trained myself on how to train a puppy. The Seeing Eye provided classes for this and I was the very first one in my class to receive a puppy to raise for them. I then raised a female German Shepherd named Molly. She was the top Dog in her class and I discovered that I had a real talent for working with dogs.

Pet Therapy

Libby is certified as a therapy dog with Therapy Dogs International. She also received her Canine Good Citizen award from the AKC. Libby has had an opportunity to visit with students from my daughter's class at DeFranco Elementary School.

Some of the tests done on our poodles: 1. Hip Dysplasia - and certified by the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) 2.Progressive Retinal Atrophy (eyes) - and certified by CERF (Canine Eye Registration Foundation) 3. Von Willebrand's disease (vWD) - An inherited blood clotting defect; Breeds at high risk should be screened before being allowed to breed. 4. Hypothyroidism (Thyroid) - an inadequate production of the thyroid hormone 5.Addison's Disease- an adrenal gland disease 6.Sebaceous Adenitis (all dogs are clear) 7. Watson has also been tested for Neonatal Encephalopathy and is clear. This is a genetic neurological disease which causes puppies to die shortly after birth. 8.There is genetic screening for seizures and juvenile renal disease done by the breeder in selection of dogs being bred.
